On Saturday, 27th August 2022, a small group of North South University students have gone to demonstrate with banners, claiming to be on behalf of the general student body, that they are in support of the High Court judge’s comments on the victim’s clothing regarding the 18th May Narsingdi Railway Station incident.

The demonstration in question took place in front of NSU, with posters going as far to claim these women are “cultural terrorists” There are many people that disagree with comments made by this demonstration. The ongoing dilemma in Bangladesh about women’s clothing is saddening.

Thus, our movement is against people who have such misogynist and reductive ideals, passing judgment on women's clothing.

Sign this petition if you:

1. stand beside women's right to freedom of expression, especially in educational institutions,

2. demand a thorough investigation of the students behind the original protest, and that the authorities of NSU take apt measures against them.

As a NSU graduate, I believe NSU campus is one of the most diverse and tolerant places in our country. There's no place for any mysogynist or such ideology. I hope the campus and the university as a whole will retain it's vibrant culture where everyone feels safe.

I'm going to start my University from next month and I don't want to study in a place where girls do not have the minimum amount of freedon to wear what they want. I strongly stand with women's freedom and everything related to this.

It is shameful that reputed universities's students are having this kind of mindset. Thus the question arise what did you learn in these years? And the fact that they are the future of this country makes me frightened to my core .

Being in a sexist environment has led to severe depression to suicidal thoughts. Even yesterday I was in one sexist situation on the street, this is an independent country where guys walk on the street being naked why girls can’t walk with her comfortable choices?

These people who claim to be on behalf of the students of DU and NSU have no right to represent us without our consent. They have no right to decide how should women dress. They have no right to dictate our life.

My body, my choice. A society, culture or religion doesn't decide what I wear.
