For too long Staffordshire Bull Terriers have been portrayed by the media as ferocious, savage creatures who maim and kill. There has never been a balanced view showing how loving and loyal these animals are. How valued they are as a family member, not simply a domestic pet. Whenever dangerous dogs are mentioned in the newspapers or on television they are accompanied by photos of Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Such negative reporting results in fear and ignorance. Many SBTs are put to sleep simply because the public are afraid to give them a home, so the rescue centres are overcrowded with them. This is so wrong. It's not the dogs that are dangerous, it's the humans - those who use biased reporting to scare and those morons who should not have a goldfish, let alone a dog who get the breed a bad name. How many SBT owners have suffered threats, abuse, people crossing over the road to avoid them, simply because they believe the negative hype? How many SBT owners have had their dog on a lead and small dogs off the lead have come up and barked and nipped at their SBT, without provocation or retaliation? It's now time the press and the programme makers redress the balance. We want balanced reporting, we want the true portrayal of the breed. Let the public see how loving Staffies are, how loyal they are, their 'nanny dog' nature, how funny they can be, their almost human-like traits and how they are a member of a family, not just a pet. Let's see the reality of how responsible Staffy owners are treated on a regular basis and how a small dog can do whatever it likes, but if a Staff so much as barks it must be viscious. All dog attacks featured on tv etc are focused on Staffs, why are there never any reports on the attacks by Jack Russells or Labradors or Sharpeis etc? JUSTICE FOR STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIERS NOW - BALANCED, NON-DISCRIMINATORY REPORTING. WE WANT A PROGRAMME DEDICATED TO THIS. LET'S TRY TO SAVE MORE STAFFS FROM A DEATH SENTENCE IN KENNELS BY RE-HOMING THEM WITH INFORMED/EDUCATED MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC.

STOP the hate against Staffies! They are nothing but loving, loyal companions who love nothing more than a good cuddle!!

My theo is a gorgeous, loyal male dog of elderly yrs. But still people avoid him. He is playful and a source of comedy to us all. SBT's are not the problem. It is the uninformed. Stop the hate of these amazing dogs before the true nature of these dogs are lost forever.

My staffy Luna is the biggest baby ever she just wants to lick everyone she meets. Tired of people crossing the road when they see us coming.

People who judge dogs based on headlines are the real problem. These are the softest dogs going.

Used to own one years ago and never had a single issue. Just need proper owners not idiots training them to be aggressive.
