A neighborhood treasure - must be kept!

A most beautiful, elegant, and culturally historic Church, which enriches the entire Mt. Pleasant and Eglinton neighbourhood. It is an architectural landmark!

I had the pleasure of attending weddings and other events at this beautiful church. I am happy to help ensure its legacy endures.

The first Modernist church in Toronto, this church, completed in 1955 was praised in the press as a ´masterpiece of architecture.´ Its Estonian architect Michael Bach was an influential prof at the school of architecture at U of T at the time. One of his students, Raymond Moriyama, worked with his teacher on this church. The architectural value of this church for Toronto and for Canada is incredible. It inspired many architects, engineers and designers at a time when Toronto was a provincial city and the Modernist architecture Bach lectured his students on seemed too distant. For Estonian war refugees it was an incredible accomplishment at the time and has remained the symbol for the cultural community in Toronto and for an independent Estonia. It has remained as one of the most visible architectural landmarks in the city of Toronto from the 1950s and 1960s. As such, it should be given heritage status and be preserved for future generations.

This church is the pillar of the Estonian community with many emotional attachments that must remain intact.

Don't tear down the legacy of Estonian immigrants who arrived in Canada after fleeing from the horrors of WW2.

The church where I got married, where my son was baptized and my parents-in-law were sent to their final rest.

Estonian immigrants, who arrived with nothing, worked hard to donate towards the building of this church, one dollar at a time. It is by now a famous landmark proudly standing to serve many generations to come. I strongly support the wish of the Estonian community to award this unique building a Heritage Designation.

A beautiful building with great historic value. Built by immigrants longing for a safe haven and new homeland, what would the founding fathers say if they knew what was happening. This is a landmark building that should be preserved for the community and generations to come.

This beautiful modernist church has been a focal point for the Estonian community in Toronto and a place for first generation Canadians to honour their Estonian origins and the legacy of their parents' struggle to create a new life of opportunities in Canada, which provided them with a new and welcoming home. The simple and elegant architectural style combined with the exquisite stained glass windows has been a much honoured meeting place for many cultural activities. It constitutes a part of the history of the Estonian community in Toronto which is worthy of historical preservation in our multicultural Canadian society that honours and celebrates our diverse roots and origins.

Please don't destroy this beautiful church with all it's heritage. It's an architectural gem in a sea of concrete in uptown Toronto.
