The church is too small for our parish and needs more parking.

This is a great opportunity for the local community and much needed for the parishioners of St Maroun’s church.

I support the redevelopment of the St Maroun’s Church in Greenslopes as proposed. The existing church premises including the 4 homes that are currently situated on the land are in a state of disrepair and it will be a major improvement for the local neighbourhood to see these dwellings rejuvenated. The design of the church and church hall will in no doubt become a local landmark for the Greenslopes community. This is a community nucleus that will assist and help the area particular now more than ever in this time of need. The improved use of greenspace is a significant improvement to the existing situation.

For over 30 years St Maroun’s has served as a pastoral services to Maronite, Roman and Latin Catholic’s, Lebanese, Syrian, Iraqi, Ethiopian, Filipinos, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean Christians etc. The Parish of St Maroun’s serves all the communities noted above; and the proposed redevelopment will not change the demographic of parishioners nor the community it serves, past, present, future. Furthermore the redevelopment will provide suitable facilities for the Parish Priest to continue to provide counseling and advice to those in need i.e. Mental Health, Depression, Family Issues and Moral issues particularly for the many refugees who have openly been welcomed into our parish albeit still traumatized by past events and require regular counseling.

St Maroun’s Maronite Catholic Church has a vibrant community including mainly Lebanese Maronite as well as worshippers from other cultures. St Maroun’s community has outgrown the premises. The new church will be able to seat all attendees as opposed to having many worshippers standing outside because the church is full. The new modern building will beautify the street and the new carpark will allow for less cars to be parked on the surrounding streets. Looking forward to celebrating mass in the new church.

A redevelopment for the Church is much needed and would greatly benefit the community.
