This is a crying shame. Its enough we don't have a Recreation Center, It' enough we don't have a Senior Center, We don't even have a pool for our community kids to learn how to swim but the one thing that brings this community together one time a year you want to take away because it is inconvenient for a few people. Yes granted the parade is not that long with not a lot of participants but the community looks forward to this every year. We will definitely be looking for alternatives to keep this long standing tradition going. This is one battle we will fight to the end. This story had just begun

I did not attend St. Johns High but this parade has been a tradition for many years. I grew up on Johns Island and I would hate to see this once a year tradition cease just because of the increase in traffic to and from the island.

Perhaps more publicity about the event will make more residents aware of it--

Tradition, Honor, and Heritage we must support our island. Many fight for trees, but will not fight for the pride of our kids and families. Let's go Islanders .

This event happens once a year it is just like any event you make plans to ensure it works around your schedule.

For 1 hour, once a year the community comes together to celebrate and give the school children on Johns and Wadmalaw Islands a chance to come together for a long standing tradition. To stop this tradition will be tragic to the Islands residents. Home coming Parade at St. Johns High School for the pass 40 plus for the community to end it will be like the Islanders losing the Ship......John's Island Proud, John's Island Strong.....

Once a year we close the Ravenel Bridge for people to run on it. This is the same thing on a much smaller scale. Let the kids have their fun.
