Not acceptable! As a teacher I have seen what happens in schools with these cuts
. We should be investing in our future, our children.

Our children have been submitted to a ongoing changes in Administration at this school - they need some consistency and the right support; it is irresponsible to think this is not impacting all of the students - especially those that benefitted directly from interaction with these roles. Meanwhile, less engaged teachers remain. Please find a way to reward and keep those that deserve it.

How can a school of 450 students - 77 requiring special education survive with only 1 Education Assistant and 1 Principal? When the Principal is called to meetings at the school board who will be running the school? How can 1 Education Assistant deal with 77 students in a daily basis? Cuts are hurting the children who need help and they should also be given the same opportunity as all students regardless of their needs.

How can one principal lead and manage a school with over 450 students and a capacity of over 500 students on her own?
There are just under 80 students at St. John's with special education needs; as a result of the recent cuts, they will no longer get the assistantance and the attention they deserve- these cuts are too much!

Budgets are the responsibility of the adults, apparently they are not doing a good job. Cuts is not the answer, education & the well being of the kids comes first. Find a way to balance the budget without the kids suffering.

Saving money in a budget is one thing, but to save money to jeopardize the learning of our children is another. Special Education is not an option in our school system, it's essential.
As a community we are seeing increases in this school population with special needs and the Boards response is to ignore the problem and have these children slip through the school system cracks. It's unacceptable.

These mindless cuts have to stop! At what point will the board and ministry consider the impacts these decisions have on our kids! Access to special education programs and in-school support should never be considered as a cost-saving option.
