Not only should the turn table be kept in working order to play a big part in keeping steam tours running into cornwall, but the rest of St Blazey should be brought back to life. In the past 10 years the depot has declined to almost nothing, with nothing being repaired or serviced their any more, it's very much become a shadow of it's former self.

I agree that the turntable needs to be brought back to use, but, I don't see anyone offering to help with the cost. DBS have declared it surplus to their use, which it is. They are not removing it, just not using it (which is I believe their commitment to it). The cornish operation runs to very tight budgets, in fact it nearly disappeared last year and some drivers and shunters were also deemed surplus to requirements. I'd love to see steam remaining on SBZ depot but can see that DBS (who receive no subsidies) have to run a business as well, perhaps the charter operators would like to take over operation of the turntable?

This turntable has to be kept where it is used in support of steam train services which are an asset to local tourism. Furthermore, although I live in Germany, many German locals have informed me that the DB should start considering domestic rail service problems instead of venturing to other countries. The turntable has to be returned for use at once.

Closure of the t/t would amount to an act bordering on a crime, not just for the people of Cornwall but for all those potential travellers who are and would wish to travel into Cornwall by steam power.

It is the only one left in Cornwall, there is not even one in Plymouth, and it should be saved. The turntable is a valuable piece of heritage that should be properly maintained, Network Rail hate those two words, in order that mainline steam can continue coming to Cornwall. Why should Cornwall always lose out thanks to bumptious bureaucrats hundreds of miles away in a stuffy office. Just think, the whole of St Blazey Depot would make an excellent heritage railway complete with turntable, sheds and roundhouse, if only we had the money.
