The return of the use of the turntable at St Blazey is an essential part of the future economy of the county. Failure to make the facility available again soon with have a disastrous effect both this year and every year into the future.

A valuable resource for the Heritage Railway Sector as well as sad to see iconic steam trains missing from the Cornish scene

Anything that affects trade in Cornwall needs to be maintained, shame on DB Schenker who need to be reminded of their responsibilities towards the wider community where their company operates - not just a spreadsheet bottom line

This is effectively criminal neglect of a necessary facility for UK steam operations by a "foreign" operator with no interest in UK heritage.

The local community needs the income from steam train passengers

The Turntable is essential for efficient operation of the line as well as a tourist and fan attraction. Check with the West Somerset Railway re the reinstated Turntable at Minehead.

The long term benefit that steam tours bring to Cornwall and the local towns such as Fowey is undoubtedly far greater than the cost of refurbishing this important railway asset. Just because it is not used by the company who owns it (DB Schenker) does not mean to say that it can be neglected. The railway industry needs to recognise that it is the custodian of heritage infrastructure and therefore must be obliged to maintain it.

This is vital to the Cornish tourist economy and steam enthusiasts everywhere. It is also a part of our national heritage and should not be allowed to be left to rot in this manner. Surely Network Rail have some say in this as the 'landlords' and can insist that the facility is returned to the state it was in when leased to DB Schenker. Hopefully this will be another example of where the people speak out and get positive results to save this vital asset.
