St. Anthony Park Library Land Sale

Our neighborhood library is a valued treasure in our neighborhood. Please do not sell any land that was donated for community use

The Library is a wonderful asset for our community. Let's work hard to preserve it as is!!!

Please do not sell this library that belongs to all St Paul residents And Is NOT A COMODITY to be bought or sold. It is our heritage and history

This is public land. If we loose it, it's gone for good.

Concerned about the precedent. Concerned about treatment of donated land. Concerned about green space. Concerned about good faith dealings with the neighbors who thought they owned it. Concerned about whether or not taxes have been paid (heard both yes and no).

Taxpayer concerns should be considered before action is taken by two non-residents of St. Anthony Park.

I am a physician and have noticed that most hospitals have become islands in a sea of concrete. I love that our library is not this way-- it is surrounded by gardens and trees and shady places to sit. Every year it seems green space disappears from our community. It happens slowly enough that we don't notice it. But these green spaces are what make our community beautiful.

If this type of behavior is allowed in Saint Anthony Park, it can happen anywhere. I want all communities to have the power to save their special places.

A historical landmark for the St. Anthony Park community and a vital part to the community and surrounding areas. Respect our history and the neighborhood that loves it. Do not sell off this land as a commercial venue. We don't need more retail or office space. We need public space for community to grow.

The library land serves a valuable public purpose. As a St Paul citizen and user of this library, I strongly oppose the sale of the library land.

This is public land and will undermine the tax base for neighborhoods. If the intention is to cause people to move to the suburbs, you are making a choice in that direction.

I strongly oppose the sale of this land. Resident since 1972. Strong SAP Library and surrounding donated land to be utilized and kept for its donated purpose. Also a member of SAP Garden Club.

I strongly oppose the sale of this land. This would be an injustice to the generous donors, a slap in the face to the community and an insult to the volunteers who spent many hours of backbreaking work planting an incredible garden. As residents for over forty years in this community, as regular users of the library and as donors of a library bench, my husband and I are outraged at this proposal!!!

I think setting a precedent would be detrimental. Homeowners should always buy their own title insurance when they close on a house purchase. I think this helps them when there are discrepancies involving title, lot size/dimensions, etc. And as far as to whether libraries, as we know them, will still be necessary in the future, no one can really know at this point. However, if that nightmare does come true, the building and the land could still be used for the community good.

The neighborhood place in the larger st paul community could be lost unless its orginal history and community institutions defended.

Perhaps we'll no longer need libraries in a few years, but this is not clear. Right now, I don't think it's clear that we won't need to expand the building further, which would be tougher without the land. And, the pollinator garden should not be threatened.
