St Aloysius' pupils are calling for a short extension to the Woodstock Road west pavement cycle lane so that they can cycle safely to school.

Currently the children have to cross at Frenchay Road to the east side of the Woodstock Road and ride alongside the cars.

An extra 400m from Frenchay Road to St Margaret's Road would solve the problem.

Oxford city council collects a lot of taxes from universities and colleges and schools in the area , expects us to be environmentally friendly, so should demionstarte it own good values by investing in more cycle paths around oxford particularly near schools and colleges.

Even as an experienced adult cyclist, I feel vulnerable cycling alongside cars on Woodstock Road. This extension to keep kids further from the traffic is a good idea.

Given the death of a cyclist at the junction of Polstead rd and Woodstock Rd in 2014, I would think this is a no-brainer and shouldnt even have required a petition. I would urge the council to do it as a matter of urgency

This extension to existing cycle lane would greatly increase the safety of children cycling to St Aloysius. My grandchildren attend this school and will benefit by this extension when cycling to school.

This will also help to serve Phil & Jim's school, so a worthy endeavor to encourage school age children and their families to cycle around Oxford.

As an ex-parent , a governor and a previous chair of governors at this school and, as a cyclist myself I can wholeheartedly support this petition. There is room on the pavement to put in a cycle lane and this addition will make the route safer and encourage more children and parents to cycle.

Great idea, very important for cyclists safety at busy school run times! And it will encourage more people to use their bikes.
