Hi, I am on a one-woman crusade to get Stevie Ray Vaughn put on the list of names we can vote on for the renaming of Industrial Blvd. I have long felt that Dallas has not given SRV the attention he deserves and we have not properly memorialized, arguably our most famous resident. Austin has a memorial for him in Zikler Park and Texas recognizes his birthday as a holiday but Dallas has done nothing to remember the man who was born and raised and buried here. I feel having his name involved would create a lot of attention directed at the Trinity River Project and would also allow the City of Dallas to host memorial events in his honor bringing in revenue that is currently being given to Austin who is doing their part. I have started aggressive letter/e-mail writing and phone call campaign to every member of the Dallas City Council and so far I have had no response. My next step is start a petition to let the council know this is something Dallasites feel very strongly about. I am simply asking for the opportunity to vote on it. I feel based on the other choices that if we could just get the name on the ballot we have a very good chance of winning because very few people care enough to come out and vote on an unnecessary name change to Trinity Lakes Blvd, but people do care to give Stevie Ray Vaughn the credit he deserves.

I spend my evenings reading your comments about what his music meant to your lives and it reminds me exactly why he deserves to be honored in the city that raised him. My phone calls to the council remain unreturned but I am not stopping until they acknowledge that this matters to us.

Seeing this level of support reminds me why I started this for Stevie. People are finally recognizing that Dallas needs to honor its own hometown legend instead of letting other cities claim him. We are building real momentum now and I intend to make sure the council finally listens.

Total oversight by the city. The man is a hero to every guitarist in Texas. Let's get this done.

About time Dallas did something for SRV. He is a legend and belongs on our streets.

Yes!!! Austin gets all the credit but he grew up here. Big fan of this idea.

So tired of the city ignoring him. He deserves better than a grave site. Put his name on the road.

Born in Dallas. Raised in Dallas. Why is this even a question? Stevie Ray Vaughn Blvd has a nice ring to it.

Industrial blvd is a dump anyway. Naming it after Stevie would honestly make it way cooler.
