SRA BOARD SHOULD RESIGN
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has been revealed to be racist in a comprehensive investigation conducted by the former chair of the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE), Lord Herman Ouseley.
The report also unveiled elements of discrimination and victimization and extensive evidence of institutional racism.
Lord Ouseley’s in his investigation looked at the SRA’s treatment of ethnic minority solicitors over the last five years. His report cited a glaring “lack of leadership” and “a culture of bias” against ethnic minority solicitors, leading to a disproportionate number experiencing serious interference with their professional practice and reputation.
The report goes further to quote the Chief Executive of SRA, Antony Townsend, who indicated that progress has been lacking in a number of areas and that there was no sufficient leadership to the values of equality and diversity.
In its current state the SRA has lost credibility for fairness and impartiality and the board of management should resign to pave way for leaders who do not condone unfairness based on one's skin color.
