The government of Alberta is voting on a bill to change the drinking and driving laws in our Province, to match those of BC. What this means is there will no longer be a 0.08 tolerance level, it will be dropped to a 0.05% level. What this is doing is instead of targetting problematic people or true offenders, they are trying to target the social drinkers, who are responsible with their 1 drink an hour rule of thumb. This is an unnacceptable way of targetting drunk drivers, and the offence should match the crime. Having one single system where punishments are the same to the social business man who has two pints after work, as a Drunk Driver polishing off a 26 and than driving home is absolutely rediculous and we (the responsible social drinkers) should not suffer.

This also directly effects Restaurants and Bars demographic, sales mixes, and overall way of operation, as it is inflicting fear into the customers who are okay with having their 2 drinks after work before driving. 0.05% allows up to 1 drink per hour (for some people not even an entire drink), and will therefore cut out on HUGE BUSINESS! We should not be taking the heat due to the lack of care of the minority.

Please sign your name if you feel this bill infringes your Right to enjoy some social time with your friends/co-workers/family or whoever else may be affected by passing this law. Especially the Restaurant and Bar Industry.
