My students miss too much important in-class time during their high school sports season.

I am amazed that SPS does not consider after school programs when implementing policies. Pushing back bell times creates problems for athletes in particular who use Parks' fields. The will miss more class time as a result, which is not fair to them.

The current end time for school is too late, the proposed new end time will create an unfair hardship for students that would like to participate in sports or other after school activities. It will also make it very difficult to manage after school jobs, and many students need to work after school.

Ending school at 3:50 negatively impacts students who work after school to earn money for college; students who must be home to take care of younger siblings; students who participate in performing arts and stay after school to practice; students who need extra academic support from teachers after school; and students who participate in sports and school clubs. Why can't middle and high schools start at 8am and elementary schools start at 9am?

Please keep end times as early as possible. My student athlete's grade point average dropped from a 3.6 to 3.0 when playing spring sports.

Please stick with the current HS times - they seem to work well.

The proposed end time for high school students negatively impacts student athletes (missing more class time during sports season), and those who work part-time after school.

This year's 3:15 end time has had a very negative effect on athletes academics. 3:50 end time will be have the missing even more class time.

The late end time will negatively high school athletes' class attendance. They will have to miss at least 2 classes 2-3 times/ week unless game times are changed.

The 2-tier'd system will create more challenges for younger and older students then it will resolve. The slightly earlier start time for elementary students will not sufficiently resolve the before school breakfast program. And for high-school and middle school students will result in limited afternoon time to commute to after school sports jobs and extracurricular activities that support their social development.

All afterschool sporting events would either be an hour later, or my kids will miss three class periods overtime they have a game in South Seattle. And the drive will be during peak traffic time. And students who take city buses will have to crowd on during peak commuter times--with their large backpacks and instruments and sports bags.

This is a very short-sighted plan with no funding mechanism in place after year one. Please retain the three-tier system with just a minimal change in bell times. Thank you.

I totally agree. Getting out at 4 is too late. After practice, commuting home, and dinner, homework would take our kids past a decent bedtime. We also wouldn't have any family time. This would be horrible for my middle schooler and high schooler.

A 9 am start time and a 3:50 pm end time would be detrimental to after school activites, homework, make part time work nearly impossible, and further squeeze family time for high school and middle school students. Please leave it as a 2 tier system with an approximate 3:30 end time.
