Sprinklers in Wandsworth Council Tower Blocks

I definitely do not want sprinklers in my property. The block doesn’t have cladding and any fire would be contained in the room or flat without spreading as it’s if concrete construction. We are having Dry Risers fitted and our gas supply pipes are being moved to the exterior of the block. We have had our doors check to make sure they are in Fire Regulation and that we have smoke alarms and easy access to our fire escapes. Surely this is enough precaution?!

the ONLY reason we would ever need sprinklers, is if we had flammable cladding spreading fire, that never spreads in unclad flats as the containment system works, fire crew here within 7 mins anyway, perfectly able to deal with fire which is only ever going to be in the one flat where it started. sprinklers would make zero difference to that flat. in some circs could make things worse for the resident, e.g whole flat soaked instead of single area in one room which needs damping down, which the crew would deal with, without hosing whole flat. has anyone consulted fire chief over this?? have had many opportunities on my estate to see how every fire here has NOT spread, and been put out within 20 mins start to finish. sprinklers totally superfluous to requirements.

We feel that these sprinklers are only required in communal areas.

I think the sprinklers are unnecessary , unsightly and far too costly.

Letter to council: Dear Sir/Madam Re: Sprinkler Systems I note that there is some dispute as to the necessity to install such a system into a property that has not found it a requirement in the past, and has functioned satisfactorily by its design features. That is compartmentalisation of each individual flat. If you go ahead I should like to be assured that I will not charged for work that I have not sort, nor support. I have not got unlimited funds for you to plunder. To date most work undertaken by yourselves has been poorly managed and carried out, at an inflated price to the leaseholder. The example of Grendfell Tower should not be used to justify your actions. Kind regards Susannah

Please take in consideration that these sprinklers could be fitted in the hall way and escape route which would keep residents save

Utter disgrace from Wandsworth council to expect the leaseholders to foot the bill

There is no evidence to suggest we need them! There needs to be an assessment before any planning! No to sprinklers.

Feel very strongly we don’t need them, don’t want them and won’t pay for them. The way the council has gone about the whole thing so sneakily is deplorable.

The way the council has dealt with this is wrong and i do not agree with it.

This uncalled for invasion of my privacy is not what I expected from WBC when I bought my property. No consultation has been made, I have never been asked my opinion on the matter.

The council has not proven how grenfell affects the underlying fire risk assessment for unclad blocks.

Sprinklers are an unnecessary waste of money for buildings which have stood the test of 60+ years and enduring many fires. These resources could be better spent building new homes and improving existing housing stock. This is knee jerk politics at its worst.

As a leaseholder I am against the installation of water sprinklers in flats. They are uneccesary and the cost and installation damage which will be incurred will be detrimental to the well being of leaseholders and tenants alike

I object to the forced installation of sprinklers and am in favour of consultation on a block by block basis.

Sprinklers are a stupid idea in a concrete block.

Sprinklers are not necessary in a concrete building. Why go through this unnecessary and costly exercise?

if its ten storeys and above why not just fit sprinklers from the tenth floor and above?
