The county board finally committed to the road expansion and the new signal at Joss Avenue. I am completely drained but relieved we forced them to prioritize our children over convenience. We won this fight and now we just need to watch them keep their word.

Reaching this point in our campaign feels surreal after so many weeks of feeling ignored by the county. My energy is drained but seeing this level of backing reminds me why we cannot back down now.

The countly is going to make huge money on this development in property taxes, as well as fees associated with construction and sales, such as recording, inspection, approval, etc. Might as well do it right without endangering our kids.
I live on 165th - opposite Joss and have already witnessed some bad accidents at the intersection of Joss and Springville Road. People drive at speeds greater than the posted 45 and it is difficult to get out of Joss or 165th. The biggest reason is for kids to cross the busy street safely.
As President of the Graf Meadows Home Owners Association I estend our concerns regarding the lack of long term planning for the already increased traffic flow and our neighborhood is already being impacted by this with constant concerns from parents and children with safety at this busy street and intersections.
Springville Rd is very dangerous to cross without a crosswalk or light. Kids who live in neighborhoods other than Arbor Oaks are not able to walk to school safely even though they live a 5 minute walk away. This creates more traffic with parents dropping their kids at school or forces them to ride the bus. A crossing light was just created on Bethany to connect the T Hills trail. At least a light similar to that if not a traffic light should be constructed on Springville so kids can walk to school safely.
A question for Washington County: Why is there a new signaled crosswalk that stops traffic with a red light just west of the Walker Rd Fred Meyer, a 45 mph speed zone, yet our school cannot get a signaled crosswalk of any kind? A flashing yellow like the one on West Union near the Albertsons, or a red light? The speed limit on this section of West Union is 40. The speed limit of Walker Rd at this section is 45, just like Springville Rd.
This is long overdue. We have the problem now.

Funneling more traffic in-front of Springville school is not a good idea. Not only does construction traffic ignore people trying to cross the street IN cross walks, but cars without kids not dropping people off also ignore x-walk pedestrians. increasing and forcing more traffic in-front of the school is a recipe for disaster. I was already planning to contact schools, sheriff, current construction companies to warn them of the issue and increase the liability when road signals are ignored. BTW, construction has TURNED OFF the blinking traffic sign for speed limits for school; sounds illegal to me.
