As a student of the Linfield program, I believe changing the grading scale so significantly will only have a negative impact. Because we were enrolled with the current grading scale, we should be able to be grandfathered in, like the remaining cohorts. Having a grading scale so different than many other schools means that we should be warned before coming into the program, and not bombarded with the news midway.

I am a student of this program, but that is not the reason I am signing. This issue is about morality. Changing the grading scale so significantly for us (and not the other active cohorts) after we have already begun this program is simply unethical.

As an educator, I think this is ridiculous. And yes, a misrepresentation of what these current students were promised without notification or justification.

Raising the letter grade standards does not raise exam scores. It does not improve learning outcomes. If the learning outcomes need to be improved, then learning objectives and curriculum need to be evaluated and adjusted. Raising the passing percentage only succeeds in raising the failure rate, the stress, and discontent. I feel that nurse educators may want to consider creating more BSN level nurses, not fewer. We are your legacy- nurture your young.

I can understand they are trying to improve our chance to pass the NCLEX but I feel like there should be a better way than just isolating this Cohort from others with higher expectations from US to practically get only As and Bs to pass nursing school.

As a second semester student, I believe that 4% is a significant increase and is unfair since these students are already in the program. I understand we want to achieve higher NCLEX scores, but I feel there is a better way to go about it. Nursing school is already difficult as it is.
