This is most definitely art, expressing a strong opinion and beliefs about women's rights. I am impressed that a high school student would conceive this and accomplish something so interesting and thought provoking.

I agree with the students. They are taught about Aids and STDs but are not taught consent and rape when it comes to sex. There are many students who are immature and think that its OK when they don't feel comfortable to be taken advantage of sexually. They need to be taught the difference! Put the picture back up and be proud that your school and students are advocating such awareness!!!

As an art teacher and artist I think this project should have won an award for artistic expression! The message is powerful and well done! Sad that Puritanism in this century exists! It should be displayed prominently in school and posters. Have the parents and board of education seen what is displayed on television or the Internet? Shame on them for censorship!

Censorship is a tool that ignorant people use to force their beliefs upon others. Censorship stifles creativity. This is such an important subject that it's exemption from SWHS dress code far outweighs the benefit and teaching moment for the entire student body.

Rape culture has gotten to the point where 15 year old women feel the need to address it, but the concern gets focused on the apparent sexual imagery with bare backs...this needs to be changed. Yet another important issue brushed under the rug by authoritative figures trying to censor the things that happen in the real world. Educate young ladies, do not teach them that this is something to be ashamed of.
It amazes me when victim blaming is fueled by claims of "not contacting authority" BUT who would if this is the way things like this are treated?!

School officials are taking the easy way out by embracing censorship. These girls are putting forth an important topic (and well done). This is obviously a violation of their first amendment rights, not the dress code as no one goes to school in a photograph. The nude body has told religious and cultural stories for years. Go to the MET! Good job girls, keep fighting for your voice!
