First, there is nothing sexual about this photo, and if you think there is then your mentality is part of the problem.
Second, the importance of the topic trumps the few who might feel 'icky' about the photo.
Third, how ironic that this project stemmed from a discussion about the Declaration of Independence, and was then banned.

This project is brilliant and creative. It should not be censored! Rape will continue to flourish if we insist on covering up girls instead of educating boys.

As a former student, I find it shocking the way the administration responded. But then again, I'm really not. I remember what its like going to school there. It was by no means a bad experience, but it really sucked when as a girl you'd get reprimanded for wearing a tank or short shorts, when the boys are wearing those basketball jerseys with the huge arm holes or their pants hanging way low. I find this very sad, because when I was a student there wasn't much talk about sex education, especially about rape and consent. So the fact that these students trying to start an important conversation were censored is wrong. Wagner is a progressive school - at least compared to the horror stories I've heard about sex ed and dress codes elsewhere - but unfortunately there are sexist pigs everywhere who just have to sexualize a young female student.

It's ironic that the school administration has chosen to endorse the hypersexualization of the female body by banning a project because the bare back of a female might be "offensive".

This Photo is not to be banned, edited or used as yet another way to censor women. Men can walk around shirtless anywhere and incidentally women can too that includes female children. They are in no way depicted in a sexualizing way. Truthfully it could be a male or female the assumption it is a female is made solely on the point that she or he has long braided hair.

A beautiful piece of art with a powerful message shouldn't be censored. I see nothing wrong with this picture, only a few words that should be taught in schools. It seems to be a double standard that men can freely show their backs. Prom should be fun with all those bare backs.

Sex is used to sell everything in our society. I can't walk into a mall without seeing a nearly naked VS ad plastered larger than life as my first visual, whether I want to see this image our not. But in this same society, a student can't use art showing a person's back to voice that women aren't sexual mutes to be taken and used at will? Seriously twisted society and seriously twisted message to our youth and women! Don't stop the fight!

I stand behind Andrea and her art. That Susan Wagner removed it because of the "dress code" is ridiculous. I see no nudity. I see a strong statement.

I used to belong to the scholars academy at Wagner and am very disappointed in their censorship and lack of making students aware to real issues

This is a shame. Instead of encouraging a student who is raising awareness on an incredibly important social issue we censor and silent her. Rape culture in America needs to be talked about in schools. We need to teach boys that rape is not okay and stop telling girls that rape is somehow encouraged when they dress a certain way.
