Rape is not a joke

I hate to see the censorship of a beautiful project with such a strong, important message. Women are more than their shoulders, knees, backs, and whatever else one might deem inappropriate. We deserve voices too, and to take down these images is to directly cut off one girl's voice that speaks a message that resonates with many, and to reduce women to their bodies even more. I also find the fact that this is coming from a school extremely disheartening.

Thank you for sharing! This series of photographs sends a powerful message. Yes, there is nudity, but it is not obscene - it's a form of expression and completely appropriate for the artist's message about how society views women. I think it's educational and the school should support this student's work - it could help the school start a discussion about issues that girls face. If the petition doesn't work, it might be worthwhile to contact the National Coalition Against Censorship. Their mission is to promote freedom of thought, inquiry and expression and oppose censorship in all its forms. They assist students in opposing censorship in schools. Their website is: http://ncac.org/about-us Good luck! Thanks again for letting us know about this issue.

It's time for everyone to realize that it's 2016. We are not living in the 50s or the 60s anymore people. Respect one another! Women have every right to dress how they want and it's time that people step up and accept it. Especially in a school that promotes equality for all.

why is a boys education so much more important than a girl's , that you will send a girl home for what she's wearing, and keeping her from learning herself for the sake of the men?

This is beautiful and sends a strong message. Us women, we are held back from things that aren't acceptable. We can't wear certain things because it's a distraction to boys? A distraction to the education environment? If you're so focused on what we wear and the faculty agrees, I believe there is not only a problem among the students but the faculty as well. Stop sexualizing females!!!! If it's hot out let us wear shorts or tank tops. Stop giving boys excuses about puberty and hormones and start teaching them right from wrong! It's not the clothes that rape, remember that. I understand there is a time and place for everything but start teaching us about the important things in life and not how to solve equations or read from English text books.

The human body has always been used as a canvas to reflect on experiences and issues as any art does. A body is no different from paper, yet offers more meaning to the issue at hand and addresses it with directness. This is a part of our right to express without violating anyone else's property. As seen, this is art, mirroring the age we live in.

First shoulders, now backs? How is this nudity when nothing is really being shown? It's acceptable to see nudity in movies in class or a clip or a textbook, but unacceptable when it's a bare back? I don't get it..
