Sponsorship is one of the most powerful tools available in the marketing toolbox. Yet it is often misunderstood, misapplied, and misrepresented, even by people heading up marketing organizations. The end result: sponsorship is seen as less credible than advertising or simply charity at best, and irresponsible spending at worst. Both mindsets retard industry growth. This is the reality because no sponsorship marketing advocacy group exists to:


* Set standards
* Share information about the industry and its service providers
* Provide opportunity for professional certification
* Advocate for the industry in government
* Champion academic research
