It is with grief that we write to express our disappointment with the procedures and process in Singapore when relating to Muslims burials. When a Muslim dies, he/she has to be screened and an autopsy is required. Even to the case of elderly people, the deceased has to be brought back for autopsy. The Islamic Centre (MUIS) seems had not pursued nor have represented the Muslims in the discourse to spare autopsy. And, deceased are only allowed after a post mortem and usually the next working days. Though, the country allows for organs transplants, but some Muslims had opted out. Again, with that, autopsy is still performed. We want MUIS to play a stronger role to support all cases for early burials for Muslims.
I am currently compiling the experiences gathered from this petition to form a formal proposal for the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore. These accounts serve as the primary evidence for our request to streamline the post-mortem assessment process. I expect to submit the final document to the relevant authorities by the end of the week.

The growth of this petition has reached a level that warrants direct engagement with the regulatory bodies. I am preparing a formal letter to be submitted to MUIS to request an immediate review of current autopsy protocols. I will provide a summary of their response as soon as it is received.

Why do our elderly have to go through autopsies when the cause is already clear? It is cruel to keep the body waiting like this. MUIS needs to step up.

This really needs to change. Let us bury our family members with dignity and without these long delays.

It breaks my heart to see families wait so long to lay their loved ones to rest. We need respect for our traditions and it should be possible to bury our dead faster.
