Speed Limit Reduction on Brereton Heath Lane, CW12
We the undersigned petition the council to reduce the speed limit of 60 mph to 40 mph along the entire length of Brereton Heath Lane in the village of Brereton Heath.
Following a recent speed reduction on the A54 to 40mph at Somerford we see traffic able to turn onto a residential lane and increase their speed to 60mph. Long have residents put up with speeding vehicles the entire length of the lane either cutting through the village or racing towards the Nature Reserve of Brereton Mere.
There are no speed limit signs apart from a National Speed Limit sign at the junction of the A54/Brereton Heath Lane, the lane in parts is long and straight encouraging drivers to increase speed. The lane has no pavements, limited to no street lighting and is lined with residential houses. As the lane progresses it reduces in width with visitors leaving parked cars on verges at and prior to Brereton Mere which is very busy every morning, evening and particularly weekends. The lane is used daily by many walkers, cyclists, horseriders from the local International Riding & Event Location of Somerford Park Farm, and importantly children walking to and from school buses on A54, it is only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs, lots of near misses reported by residents.
