The town of Welshpool
is sign posted as a 30MPH zone, which means the whole town, yet speeding,
particularly on our back roads, still seems to be a major problem. One of these
roads in-particular being the Brook Street/Woodside/Dolyfelin area. Time and
time again cars come zooming down the road way in excess of the speed limit,
there's a children's play park that the road has to be crossed to get to it and
it's also a road that pensioners have to cross. There is a zebra crossing but
this in itself is being rendered useless as these speeding cars are failing to stop
for pedestrians. It’s becoming such a danger not only to residents but to their
pets, I personally having to bury 2 much loved family pets as a result of speeding
accidents. How long before something more severe happens and a child or an
elderly person gets knocked down? Something has to be done and NOW! This road
NEEDS a speed camera! It needs to be made SAFER!
Speed cameras are in my opinion essential along this road, drivers regularly ignore the speed limit & only yesterday a lorry had to slam his brakes on for someone halfway across the zebra crossing
