The residents of the 9200 - 9400 block of Old Palmer Road have tried unsuccessfully for over 15 years to try and have speed bumps laid on our street where there are multiple accidents that happen too regular in conjunction with the size of the community, and they happen noticeably and invariably in the same location. This is itself is an indicator that there is a serious but, nonetheless, treatable problem.  All requests made to the Maryland DPT for the County of Prince Georges have thus far been useless in that the situation still exists. The first letters were sent to Betty Hagar-Francis who was the Director of the Dept of Transportation at that time. Next, letters and pictures of accidents were then sent to Haitham Hajazi, the next director. Mr. Hajazi did try to help by having curve signs reinstalled, but, unfortunately, this still did not help. We know that placing speed bumps in the area where it seems that these accidents happen would surely stop the senseless and frequent occurrences. Not only is property damaged but a while back, a motorist was killed. This is not counting the number of motorists who are injured. Why are the accidents occurring at the same spot? Why isn’t this being looked at more seriously? There is a nursery school several feet from this ‘spot’ and yet no successful actions have been taken. What about the folk who dare walk near this location? We are taxpayers and want to be heard in this matter. We are asking for the installation of speed bumps to stop the senseless destruction of property and, more especially, to help protect pedestrians who walk this street. Each morning there are countless motorists who do not live in this neighborhood but use this stretch of highway as a shortcut off of the conjested 210 highway. So, unlike an earlier 'finding' which stated that this is a neighborhood street only, this single fact belies that assumption/finding.
