Whereas current and past administrations and Congress have failed to address the debt, deficits, and massive overspending which is threatening to destroy our nation, we the undersigned recognize a need to change the status quo in Washington. We want a change of direction. We want a principled leader who will fight for Constitutional government. To that end, we propose the selection of Dr. Ron Paul as next Speaker of the House. There is no requirement that the Speaker be a member of Congress. Dr. Paul has no political debts and no ambitions for further political advancement. He will not be bribed, blackmailed, cajoled or compelled to act against our Constitution. We urge the Republican members of the House to recognize the need at this time for a leader who knows the system, but who is now outside it, a man with no concern for re-election. I, an American citizen, support Ron Paul for Speaker of the House, and I strongly urge my representative in Congress, if Republican, to do the same.*
