By cutting funding to Education, you are depriving children of an essential, non-negotiable right they have to a free, public education. You are sending a signal to students that Education is not important. If you think otherwise, I suggest you ask a few students. You may be surprised at the answers you hear. When you make cuts to Special Education, you are also putting the safety of students and teachers at risk for those students who require constant monitoring due to behavioural needs. For most of the Students in Special Education, when you make cuts to staffing, you deprive those students of Resource Teacher services. Reading and Mathematics are essential skills. Many students need additional intensive one-to-one services to achieve Reading and Mathematics goals. Further, I taught in on the South Shore of NS for eleven years. There was not one school in our Board that did not have a Resource Teacher. I was one of them. Those students had direct services

Perhaps some for sight should be had. How much is an EA's salary compared to years and years of AISH payments if my son does not receive a quality education ? This budget preys on the weak, this is a bullying tactic in its truest form! This is a human rights issue at its core!

homeschooling saves government 3/4 of funding per student. Enabling homeschooling to grow will effectively act as money saver.

This budget is a form of self-destruction for Alberta. How are we expecting a better economy if we deprive our children of the education that works for them? Some children need extra help, special ed, remedial teaching and others actually do better being homeschooled. Don't take these choices away from parents and don't take away the quality of education for our kids with overworked, underpayed teachers and bigger classes, because that is where this is headed. Teachers will get overworked, will stop caring, because they just can't anymore or will drop off completely and live off welfare. How does that help the economy? And taking away funding from homeschoolers doesn't make any economic sense at all!!!! It is sooooo much cheaper for the government to pay the little bit of funding for homeschoolers than it would cost for them to go to shook, so why?

This isn't right, to makes cuts to the most vulernable is dispicible. Thank goodness for parents and caregivers who give them a voice and fight for their rights. Education is everyone's human right and the cuts need to stop!!!!

Our son is special needs and I am worried what all the cuts will do to his education in public school and or homeschooling. I want to homeschool it sounds like a better option then public at this point.
