Have you ever been walking into a supermarket to do your weekly (or monthly, depending on whether or not you kept it in your pants and thereby have fewer mouths to feed) grocery shopping only to be approached by one of those pesky individuals with their petitions to recall some public official, or perhaps to overturn some law that you likely voted in favor of? Wait, what? You have?

Maybe you're standing on a street corner. You and your date are sidled up to one another after an exhilarating night at the opera. As you wait for the walk signal to appear, a lone figure approached. Clipboard firmly in hand, an air of self righteousness and superiority hanging off of them like a dark cloud looming against the horizon. They want you to save the whales, feed the starving children, or stop that immoral strip club from opening down the street. You know, the one that will be wedged between the exotic dance hall and the go go palace. Great! Now your date will be disappointed in you if you don't do your civic duty and sign it. But they will also think you're a jerk if you don't. You can't win!
