IN RECOGNITION of the plan by Slaughter Holdings, LLC to develop a proposed six story, high density apartment building on the half block of land bordered by N. 7th Street, Capital View and N. 6th Street; and
WHEREAS, the proposed building does not conform with our Historic Guidelines and would be in shocking contrast to the current historic Spanish Town buildings; and
WHEREAS, the current land use and zoning does not permit such a structure to be built and rezoning this property would negate the newly passed Historic District designation; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project demands the destruction of seven (7) more historic homes in a neighborhood beset by development pressures and other encroachment on all sides; and
WHEREAS, the proposed structure would house nearly 200 new residents and thereby create additional automobile traffic and parking problems that would aggravate the already stressed narrow streets of Spanish Town;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Historic Spanish Town Civic Association, owners, residents and supporters listed below oppose the development as presently proposed and urge you to vote against the requested zoning and land use changes:
Reaching this level of support sends a clear message to Slaughter Holdings that our neighborhood is not for sale. Post the link to your Facebook feed right now to keep this pressure on the zoning board. Email your local representative today and demand they uphold our historic designation.

the streets around here are already a total nightmare. 200 extra people is just gonna make it impossible to park or drive anywhere.

The traffic is already bad enough. Developers keep pushing and pushing and no one cares about the people who actually live here.
