This is a petiton to get the city of surrey to stop paining the south surrey skatepark with yellow, green, and blue paint. we want the park painted one last time with a full coat of grey paint like the paint at Railside, and Lefarge (the paint is very good for traction). And then not painted again. Some of the reasons we want the city to stop is because the type of pain that is used is very slippery even when its not wet. When the people come to paint, they do it fairly late in the day, thus when we come to ride it is still very wet and we cannot ride at that certian section of the skate park, and the paint takes a very long time to dry. My friend actually slipped on a patch of wet paint, his bike slipped out from underneath him, he hit his head really hard on the ground (luckly he was wearing a helmet) as a result he had a concusion. The PROS from getting the city to stop painting the outweigh the CONS PROS: -People who put graffiti around the city would be more likley to put graffiti around the skate park, rater than around the city, keeping it cleaner. -City would save money no longer having to pay for painter(s) and paint. CONS: -Young children would be exposed to graffiti but, they usually only come once a month. Allthough there may be CONS because in most instances not everybody can benfit from changes, but the local bikers and skateboarders who ride at the park almost every day when its not wet, absolutly hate the paint the way it is. And if we can't get the skatepark to be covered in grey and then in graffiti, we would really like a colour change to flat grey, Because it looks rediculus the way it is and it very slippery and kind of dangerious in my opinion.
