The East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) says that The Southend relief road is considered of significant strategic importance to secure the regeneration of the area. As you will be aware Southend forms part of the Thames Gateway, which is both a regional and national priority for economic and social regeneration. Importantly both road and rail transport infrastructures play key parts of the strategy for the area. Say \"Yes\" to a Relief Road for Southend which goes entirely through the Borough of Southend. Why This route will not destroy the Green Belt of Rochford District. It will not destroy wildlife It will not pollute the environment outside of an existing urban conurbation. Rochford District Council and Essex County Council will not oppose this route. The scheme will be greeted with delight by many motorists in Southend. Southend forms part of the Thames Gateway, which is both a regional and national priority for economic and social regeneration. It will secure the regeneration of Southend. Say \"Yes\" to a Relief Road for Southend which goes entirely through the Borough of Southend We have only ended up with this situation because Southend is doing nothing to help itself: BUS LANES - NO RED LINE ZONES - NO CONGESTION CHARGING - NO PARK AND RIDE - NO RADICALLY DEVELOPING IT OWN HIGHWAY INFRASTRUCTURE - NO Is Southend Council looking at ways to improve public transport and persuade us motorists back onto buses and trains. - NO It is still possible to re-introduce trams in and through Southend, the routes are still there. Is Southend Council doing anything - NO

Updates

The feedback from local motorists has been exhausting to process because the frustration is so universal. I am spending my evenings documenting these routes while waiting for the council to acknowledge that we have alternatives to destroying our green spaces.

Seeing this grow makes me feel a bit less alone in the frustration that has defined this process. The path forward remains exhausting but I am committed to pushing for a route that actually makes sense.

Southend is a nightmare to drive through. About time we actually fixed the roads instead of ignoring the mess.

The council ignores us locals at every turn. just build it properly inside the borough and stop the messing around.

Finally some sense. Keep the traffic inside the borough instead of ruining the countryside for everyone else.

Yes! Protect the wildlife and the belt. Keep it local.
