In 1962 South Dakota went from meeting in legislative session every other year to meeting annually. I'm purposing with this petition to change it back to every other year that South Dakota's legislature is in session. Six other states, Arkansas, Montana, Neveda, North Dakota, Oregon and Texas convene in regular session every other year. Texas is a part-time legislature even though this huge state has a economy that ranks eighth in the world. Former Gov. Pete Wilson of California is quoted by saying, "When you have a part-time legislature, they are by necessity required to concentrate on the most important issues. I think we would see fewer bills and have far less spending." I strongly encourage you to sign this petition. We need to take back our state and get spending under control.

Finally someone said it. These people spend way too much time in Pierre dreaming up ways to spend our tax money. Go back to every 2 years and maybe they will stop passing so many useless laws.
