Please get more input from your business customers that this will affect. Do not push your small groups idea of what you thins the business of South Salt Lake should look like. This needs to have more discussion from business owners and residents.

I think we need to come up with a group of business owners, sign companies, and planning commission members and put together a sign code.

This can't be approved. It will cause a great hardship to companies if they have to replace signs due to the change in Sign Codes.

I oppose this restrictive Sign Code South Salt Lake. The restrictions would have a negative impact on business creating financial hardships on businesses and working families.

I was born and raised in South Salt Lake. My mom still lives in the area. I really feel that restricting the signs in the area will make it harder for residence to see the local business. I understand this is a booming area with the house and new library going in at the old Granite High location. Just because we have these new items does not mean we should put restrictions in. That will deter business from coming in since their signage won't be able to compete with the old business. Signs are one of the most important items in located a business and knowing who they are.

Businesses show not be required to change their existing signage at their expense. Just have signage moving forward be adjusted.

I am writing the South Salt Lake City Planning Commission to oppose their latest sign ordinance. If implemented, the potential this would have upon businesses new and old would be just awful. I would encourage the commission to reconsider this and consult with businesses before taking such drastic measures to eliminate businesses in south SLC.

I rely on signs to find businesses and services. Without signs, I'm not sure how I find the places I'm trying to go. Maps on my phone are car are confusing; I need to see signs to find what I'm looking for. Someone is complaining about making the places you what to find easy to find??

I oppose the very restrictive Sign Code you are trying to pass in South Salt Lake. The restrictions would have a negative impact on the businesses already struggling due to the Covid pandemic and increased homeless population in the city. I am very concerned about the state South Salt Lake is already in and which I have witnessed as a long time SSL resident living near 3300 S 300 E. What is going to draw people to businesses if you restrict the biggest visible sign of their presence? I think, adopting a much less restrictive sign code would still help improve the appearance of SSL and not hurt the businesses that don’t need more restrictions at this time.

Terrible timing to be regulating signs of businesses and forcing them to purchase new ones at a great expense when times are difficult enough. Please get the businesses and community’s input before passing this.

An undo financial burden on businesses in this time of hardship or anytime at all has government first written all over it. Small and big business depend on advertising and budgets to stay in business, provide for our communities and their own families, they are also a huge part of our economic stability.

This is an egregious attempt at a law that steels tax dollars from city coffers and eliminates jobs from lost sales. Not worth it.

I work with business owners throughout Salt Lake County and many of them are in South Salt Lake City. Most of these locally owned business which rely on visible, engaging and informative signage as a means of advertising their businesses in order to stand out from national competition, especially during the COVID pandemic. Government lock-downs and health-safety concerns have pushed local consumers to spend their hard earned money with national businesses that have no ties or commitments to the state of Utah or any of the local cities economies. Please consider our opposition to these sign code changes as the community standing up to a decision that will irreversibly hurt local businesses, and in return, hurt the income potential for local residents of South Salt Lake city and it's neighboring cities. A pandemic is not the time to be tightening business control to the point that those businesses are suffocated to death.
