This definitely needs to happen. I remember being at brookes and always having to call someone when walking across the park. In Winter it’s dark by 4pm and it’s not right for people to feel unsafe walking home at 4pm

It is mental that in 2021 this is not a criminal offence

It’s not uncommon to hear stories of girls and even boys feeling unsafe and being approached/harassed by people around this area. Deffo needs to be well lit!!

This would've been my uni route if I didn't switch houses last minute. We deserve to feel safe!

Its pitch black in South Park at night and extremely unsafe for people to walk through at that time, especially for women and girls. And considering it is right by a university, it isn't unreasonable to think that many young women would indeed be walking through there

Especially after recent events, I am more afraid than ever to go outside when it's dark.
I live right next to South Park and often take the long way home so that I don't have to go through the park. When I have had to go through when it's dark, I make sure to have keys between my fingers and I run.
Installing lights to walk paths will make everyone (especially women) feel just that little bit safer.

South Park feels very unsafe late at night or even after dark, as a bloke I hate walking around it unless I'm in a group, so I despair to think how unsafe girls feel there.

This is very important for the safety of all and especially women! After everything that has happened is it not time to understand why these lights are important and needed!

Without lights on South Park I’m constantly using my flash light and looking behind me / around me to make sure I’m safe

This has been asked for for years, it is nervewracking walking home from uni after lectures in the dark let alone later
