Over the past weeks, it's come to light that the University of Southampton has taken the decision to close the faculty of education's Sports Programmes in the coming years. The manner in which this decision has been announced to both staff and students has been unacceptable, and no regard has been taken for the future lives and careers of those involved.
Our aims are as follows:
- We want to secure the survival of all Sports Porgrammes @ the University of Southampton
- We want to ensure that the standard of teaching, level of student and academic support, and working environments for staff and students is not compromised in the slightest.
- We want an explanation. The inexcusable way in which this situation has been managed deserves, at the very least, a full explanation and an apology.

Unbelievable. Soton is better than this. Fix your mess.
This is a disgrace. Southampton is a top university and taking away these courses is just going to hurt the students future careers. Keep them open.
Education is more than just lectures in a room. Sport is vital for so many people. Please reconsider this immediately.
Ridiculous decision. My brother is there right now and nobody had any idea this was coming. Absolute lack of respect for the students.
the way they handled this is so unprofessional. these staff members and students deserve way better communication than that.
