To the Members of the General Assembly of the United Nations:

The Petition of the undersignedMembers of the Civic Society of Earth humbly shows

• Whereas the threat of nuclear war has significantly increased during the current century,
• And Whereas, issues arising from large-scale warfare include cultural genocide, the threat of famine throughout the continent of Africa, and southwest Asia, and the sharp increase of food insecurity throughout the rest of the world,
• And Whereas, a possible nuclear war is one of several imminent threats to Humanity, such as the Climate Catastrophe, the collapse of Biodiversity, Deforestation and the ever-increasing risk of future pandemics,
• And whereas the Geneva conventions regarding the treatment of refugees are being violated with impunity by certain member states,

Therefore, be it resolved thatthose undersigned, your Petitioners, humbly pray and call upon your governments to:

sponsor an emergency Plenary Session of the United Nations General Assembly, with an eye to calling for such measures as may forestall the direst consequences of the above threats currently facing the planet
