The current Fire Chiefs plans to cut Firefighters is reckless and based on redundant (10 in 10) fire response standards with no regard for public safety and other (non fire) response capabilities. The plan does not specify required changes to operational policies and procedures; does not consider multiple alarms/incidents; recommended crews size for efficiency and safety. Any reduction in staff (the current 17-18man minimum) will require significant changes to the Fire Services response actions and capabilities currently offered. This will no doubt place significant risk to life and property! To determine operational needs; the City must conduct a thorough Risk Assessment as per the OFM Guidelines PF SH 04-08-10 which replaced the redudent (10in10 model approach)!
