In the 2013/2014 SOMSD Calendar, Spring Break is currently scheduled to precede the start of NJAsk Testing for 7th and 8th Graders.  NJAsk Testing will begin the Monday students return from 2014 Spring Break.  We feel this is extremely poor timing and request that the SOM Board of Education move spring break. NJAsk Test scores are used for math and language arts placement and these scores will also be used as a portion of teacher evaluations. Having students mentally prepared for the NJAsk testing should be a priority for our district; having students start NJAsk testing the day they return from a week of spring break is not conducive to being mentally prepared.
