21/ 94 spots and 3 champions...
Here's what we have so far...
From these three sectionals we have, 78 out of 94 finalists, 11 out of 15 champions.
Here are some numbers that will support breaking up some of these Sectionals.
1. Seven of the top eleven teams in the state were from the Elk Grove and Thornwood Sectional.
2. 57 of 94 State Finalists (including P.I.R.) or 61% came from the Elk Grove and Thornwood Sectional
3. 9/15 State Champions or 60% came from the Elk Grove or Thornwood Sectional (6 of these from the Thornwood Sectional alone).
4. The Thornwood Sectional scored 87 i.e. points, Elk Grove scored 78 points, Downers Grove South scored 73 points. The other 3 sectionals combined did not even come close to one of these.
If you add the DGS Sectional the numbers look like this.
1. 10 of the top 11 teams
2. 77/94 State Finalists or 82%
3. 12/15 State Champions or 80%
The problem of unbalance sectionals has been passed over by the IHSA committee for too long.
RIDICULOUS. kids work way to hard all season for it to come down to where your sectional is placed. rebalance these numbers ASAP.

Its totally unfair that some districts get stacked like this. The state needs to look at the numbers and realize how impossible it is for kids in other sectionals to even place. fix the system.
