Solidarity with Valentin Gutev

Browsing through the reviews on Zentralblath database of the 90 or so published articles by prof Gutev, one quickly realizes that there is something strange going in his host institution. By any internationally recognized criteria, his research track record forces our respect. Maybe the University of Malta is yet to open up to international standards in mathematics.

I am a colleague of Prof. Stoyan Nedev, the mentor of Valentin Gutev, and I am following his development as a talented mathematician since his first steps in the Academic Carrier. His academic achievements and dedication to teaching are unquestionable, and his honesty and noble attitude to colleagues and students, Vakentin Gutev should be an asset to any prestigious university. As an associate member of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, and honorable member of the Union of Bulgarian Mathematician I strongly support the petition of Prof. Vesko Valov.

A good university cares for their best professors. Valentin Gutev is, without any doubt, one of the best. In Pure Maths 90 published papers in prestigious journals is a considerable feat. Any university that pursues excellence in teaching and research will be happy to have such professors in active duty. Gutev has shown his excellence in research, teaching, and supervising students. I do believe the UM will reconsider their decision, and promote Professor Gutev.

His passion for mathematics was contagious  and inspiring to me, his colleagues and students. His exceptional talent, his numerous articles, and his hardworking habits established him as a world-renowned specialist in topology and multi-valued analysis.
