I encourage you to recommend to our Woodbury City Council that an interim use conditional permit be granted to develop a solar garden in our city. This solar garden, proposed to be at Military Road and Woodlane Drive will represent approximately 17 acres of renewable energy.

A Friendly Neighbor!

  • This solar garden is estimated to produce 3 megawatts of energy, which is enough clean energy to power around 600 homes; the energy will be used in our city.
  • This type of energy production does not produce noise and has no moving parts unlike wind turbines.
  • It is easily connected to existing power lines on the property to allow of easy transfer of energy.
  • The green space between the solar panels is used to create habitat for crucial pollinators (bees and butterflies), populations that are experiencing significant losses.

Michael Hinz, together with GreenMark Solar, is proposing to construct a solar array across approximately 35 acres of property. Because these panels are above the surface area allowed by ordinance, they required to obtain an interim conditional use permit. The use permit will be inspected and reviewed each year to ensure the panels are maintained in good condition. The property is located at the northwest corner of Woodlane Drive and Military Road
