This is really a must-have for any quality of life in Englewood.

I agree. I enjoy gardening which obviously needs plenty of sunshine. I also enjoy the privacy in my backyard, I don't want my neighbors being able to have full view of my backyard.

CodeNext is going to be the new code for Englewood and the solar regulations should and need to be in Englewood’s building codes.

Should have been done before they started building all the big duplexes and houses.

This is important. These scrapers/builders are out of control, and this is only one area in which our quality of life is being affected. This must be done!

We need to change the building code to respect the existing buildings including sunshine touching the property.

More on the petition: The intent is to mirror Boulders law. "In response to the diminishing supply and increasing cost of conventional energy sources, the City of Boulder enacted regulations to protect the use of solar energy systems on private property. The solar access regulations can be found in section 9-9-17, BRC 1981. These regulations limit the amount that new construction and additions can shade adjacent properties."

I bought my house in Englewood because it was specifically built with the largest windows and most used rooms facing South. Even my basement bedroom gets direct sunlight in the winter. If my neighbors ever scrape the house to my south and build a huge replacement like what is being done around the city, my house, plants and overall well-being will loose this natural light.
