Christians in support of SOGI123

Consider the grandchild of a Trans person, subject to teachers who attack trans folk.

I am a Christian in support of SOGI123. The open letter submitted by Graham Brownmiller aligns perfectly with my beliefs. We are fortunate to live in a society that protects free speech and I don't want to quash the right of others to voice their opinions but I think it is important that the non-religious audience understands that like in any group, there is a broad diversity of beliefs within the Christian community. I don't feel that it is my place to judge what other people believe, but I respect the right of everyone to be true to what they believe. I believe that God loves everyone, that Jesus showed that we should be inclusive of all. As Christians I believe that we can not be selective about who we define as "our neighbour", and SOGI 123 helps to build understanding and acceptance.

As the mother of a gay son who has recently married his partner without having his partner's parents to support them I support the SOGI program. I know first hand that sexual orientation is not a choice and many young folks suffer greatly at the expense of a society that thinks it is.

I recently overheard my children talking to two friends about a transgender child in their school. The other 2 children attend a (conservative) Christian school and said "I don't think a transgender kid would be accepted at my school." I am proud that BC public schools are taking this open and information-based position on sexual health/gender identity/orientation education. Every child should be accepted at their school. This education helps all children - binary and non-binary, gay and straight - feel respected, safe, and welcome! I strongly support SOGI 123!

God created so much diversity in nature and we are part of nature. Therefore we should teach children about diversity in sexual and gender orientation.

Love thy neighbour. It is that simple.

Certain conservative Christian churches seem not to understand inclusivity, the ideas that Jesus emphasised of caring about your fellow human being. I have read a great deal of scientific literature on homosexuality. It's a biological fact that about 10% of non-human animals are homosexual. As Christians, we should be fostering understanding.

If God created all and knows all, who are we to question his or her creations. I believe in a world where all human's are created equal in the eyes of our God, no matter what name we call him. If one does not believe in the teaching of religion then go by the laws of our country, we do not discriminate against anyone regardless of their background, religion or sexual orientation. Let's live free of the ignorance of fear.

Schools should be a safe, accepting place for everyone.

I am a retired minister and public school teacher and counsellor.

Kindergarten Teacher -This is critical for our students. All of our students.

Love is Love. It knows no boundaries, no religion and no race. Sexuality is individual and needs no validation nor persecution from outside forces. We are human and as such we are full of unique complexities that make the world whole. In today’s society, love, sexuality and gender should not even be part of the discussion. All should be accepted and included for what we individually bring to the world. Until more of our population becomes enlightened, we must not shy away from educating our children that understanding our neighbour is the only way to spread compassion and peace. Hatred of a life lived differently from your own is not only unchristian like, it is inhuman.

Getting children to question their sexual identity and planting seeds of doubt in impressionable minds is destructive and NOT something schools should be doing.

I support inclusion

We need this kind of a petition in Ontario. Thanks to our new conservative gov't, our revised curriculum has been ditched and we are back in the dark ages again.
