Currently at Brunel, in the Spring Term, first year Social Science students take the SS1001 module. This module is designed to present a broader understanding of 'social sciences' and includes psychology, sociology, anthropology, media and communications. However, over the course of the past term numerous complaints have been felt by the student body about the lack of structure in this topic. Students have expressed confusion over the topics within the module, what is required of them in both the exam and coursework, who to speak to about issues within the module and how to prepare for the exam effectively (due to no specific topics in the lectures). We, the undersigned petition for the SS1001 module to be made clearer. We petition for it to:

Have clear topics
For the exam to be altered as three essays in two hours isn't 'challenging', it's near-impossible to do well
Feature regular lecturers
Include explanations regarding the desired style of writing in the examination
And all round, better explanation.

We hope for this module to be radically altered to make it clearer and more useful to each student that takes it. Thanks for viewing this petition and we hope we can count on your support.
