The crossing is far too dangerous not to have Claire in attendance at the beginning and end of the school day . Without her, there will unfortunately be a serious accident due to the volume and speed of traffic that comes through the village.

Save Claire, she is much needed, fantastic with parents & kids, it's a comfort knowing she is there, especially when the bend is a blind spot & when emergency services race round the bend on blue's and the crossing is on red parents & children would not see that coming. This has happened on many an occasion. Without Claire to make sure we are back off the road there could be a catastrophe.

If we had not had clare today 21/6/16 what might have happened when police and ambulances raced into the village as children leaving school following death on railway at Branston ?

Claire fulfills a role that contributes to the safety of our children going and coming from school. This is essential for the welfare of our children. This position should be provided by the council via our council tax payments and not privatised.

It's important to have her there because it's a busy road and dangerous for kids to cross the road

There's no funding to go into health and safety for the children of Rykneld then there is no confidence that the children are Ryknelds Priority when it comes to finances!!! Double standards for children's welfare....! Shame the system has more mechanic views how does the importance of our children come first? If wise essential funding for a school crossing patrol is seeming important to cut!!!!

Safety of children will be at risk on such a busy road with high volumes of traffic.

What a ridiculous idea to "save money." This idea should be shelved immediately before someone is killed or injured. And whoever thought of it should be sacked for incompetence.

Claire is a brilliant. It's a very busy road and it's dangerous for little children if there isn't someone there.

we as parents feel safe for our kids and for ourselves as well ,if she does not come for 1 day all the kids miss her and feel unsafe ,moreover its a very busy crossing as its adjoining a very busy roundabout ,and especially in morning people are rushing for work so it would be totally unsafe without her ..she is a brilliant lady ...

The school crossing lady is essential for crossing the road. Although there are traffic controlled crossing lights available to use with such a high volume of people coming to and from school the crossing lady ensures that traffic: A stops when it should B The traffic is held until everyone has crossed onto the opposing pavement Also the crossing lady doesn't press the button until the build up of people waiting to cross gets bigger this ensures the crossing is used efficiently and the traffic is not continually being stopped just for a few people more often C Children are being shown how to cross the road at a safe point and is aware of fast coming cars arriving at the crossing from a blind left bend sometimes at higher speeds than the limit set. They also stop on the crossing and the crossing lady holds the people back to ensure the safety of them. D With new houses being built on main Street this will add significantly to volume of traffic using that part of the road so therefore increasing the potential of a dangerous incident occurring. In my opinion to disregard having a crossing patrol there is a recipe for disaster and should be kept for the safety of everyone.

Please keep our crossing lady. There are a number of much less used crossings which don't need a crossing lady as much as ours.

Close relatives live near Branston Road and the crossing ladies or gentlemen do a wonderful job usually of making children aware that the older generation are concerned about their safety - bridging a gap between generations in a lot of cases. And what's so special about a pelican crossing - it's impersonal - it can't guarantee that children will be safe using it. Funding problems? Just how much money would be saved ? I didn't think crossing wardens got paid such an incredible amount that losing the wardens would make such a difference to funding - would it?
