Let's not over pivot - the unintended learning consequences are significant. Less than 1% of the cases in San Mateo County are in kids 0-19, with ZERO tragic results.

I have very strong concerns about the proposed quarter system. It is not tested or proven, and asking our schools to try something like this in an already challenging time would be a disservice both to our students and teachers/staff. The breaks and switching back and forth will lead to lack of continuity and wasted time each quarter, and hence would be highly detrimental to learning.

I strongly feel that this “quarter system” differs significantly from the standard 4x4 semester system, as switching sets of classes THREE times a year will undoubtedly exacerbate learning loss as it continually breaks the continuity of teaching.
Additionally, this system neither benefits our students academically nor relieves pressures of teaching for our faculty.
