This is completely unnecessary. SMU is better than this decision that was made. Please reconsider, and continue to be an example instead of being an uncaring institution.

If the cats could be neutered, they could still live out their lives in peace. People care. People have befriended these critters. Do no harm.

I live by SMU and getting rid of the cats is not the solution. C'mon, you are academics....use your brains and find a better solution.

This is a colony that is being managed. Which means they are being fed. Technically once you feed them they become yours under law and if the current allogations are true it would be a gross case of animal cruelty. Would it not?

Please stop the inhumane and ineffective method that Teminex uses to getting rid of the feral cats. I am shocked at SMU for your ignorance and barbaric attitude. So now you will remove cats that are spayed,neutered and rabies shot to only have cats come in that will reproduce. Educate yourselves on the vacuum effect. Shame on
SMU and for companies like Terminex!

What a disgusting, and utterly useless, plan. The vacuum effect will have the campus full of cats again in no time, and they will be unfixed and bring loads of problems until they are TNR'd. Leave it be, as a well-managed colony. As for the fleas, it sounds like your grounds are infested with sand fleas. Treat the grounds and you'll be fine. Stupid excuse.

As an institute of learning adequate and responsible research and education would easily show that trapping and destroying these animals is inhumane, misguided and unnecessary. A properly managed cat colony is a valuable asset and can provide a great number of assets.
Vaccinated cats can provide a rabies barrier, an important consideration in Texas. They also help manage the rodent population...certainly something useful anywhere pizza is delivered on a routine basis.
Do your research. Don't be an embarrassment.
