We’re flattered, but…

After more than 18 years in business, SMOQUE has grown from a small neighborhood joint into one of the most respected names in barbecue — thanks to thousands of hours of hard work and the overwhelming support of our community.

Recently, Weber-Stephen Products — makers of Weber grills — launched a pellet smoker under the name WEBER SMOQUE, incorporating our long-established and federally registered trademark: SMOQUE.

To be clear: we have no affiliation with Weber or its products.

We tried to appeal to them directly. When that failed, we filed a Notice of Opposition with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to protect our name and prevent confusion. It’s a long and costly process, but we felt it was important to have our voice on the record.

We’ve always held Weber in high regard — we even felt a certain kinship as two Chicago-based BBQ names. That makes this all the more disappointing. Our name matters — to us, and to the customers who helped us build it.

If you’d like to show your support, please sign this petition. And if you’ve had a memorable experience with SMOQUE over the years, we’d love for you to share that as well.

Thank you for standing with us.

NOTE: Any donations solicited after signing the petition are not those of Smoque BBQ, but rather the petition website asking for donations for them. Smoque BBQ is not asking for any donations. Please be aware of this before donating. Thank you.
