Smoking laws do not permit citizens to be within 25ft from a state building. This law has been ignored at the University of Connecticut. It is a written rule in the university handbook that students and faculty are told about once. The UConn police need to recognize this problem and that it affects people around campus. They need to enforce the law better to improve the campus. There needs to be signs put up on all buildings stating that citizens need to be 25ft away to smoke cigarettes. As students and faculty, we need to demand these changes. We need to ask our police force to enforce the laws to help the well-being of our campus. This is a realistic change that can be made.
