I also struggle with the limited amount of options of food! If they decide to serve fish one day, every dining hall serves fish. Isn't the point of multiple dining halls to offer different food?

YES the inflexibility of the meals served and meal time cannot is reflected in the current imposed meal plan. Students should have more options for when to eat, and should have options to pay for different meal plans.

Yes, yes, YES - the amount we pay for the current meals is ridiculous!

The food here is frankly unacceptable for an institution of this stature. There is almost nothing for vegetarians to eat but some lettuce and tomatoes. Unacceptable.

The quality of the food this year has been really terrible, despite there being a new dining director. I am a vegetarian, but am barely even eating at the Northrop/Gillett vegetarian dining halls this year, even though I used to go there all of the time because the food choice this year is just downright terrible. Furthermore, every time I eat breakfast at Smith, I end up with an upset stomach. This happens no matter which dining hall I go.
I am forced to buy groceries downtown to have an edible alternative, and as a student, this really dips into my budget. With the amount that I am paying for tuition, the way that the dining situation has deteriorated is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.

We know many of the desserts have been sitting in the back of the kitchen for days before setting it out for us to eat. Also, we know that many of the FRESH fruits are not even brought out for us students to eat.

I never eat the food here because I have a lot of dietary limitations, yet I am forced to pay for a meal plan. It's ridiculous.

I have heard that starting in December dining halls will implement cultural nights based on recipes submitted for the IS day.

I think the problem is how the funds are allocated within the school--food is important!

Longer hours, healthier options (less butter, cream and salt on the food)

As a Smith alum who suffered from a growing list of allergies while a student, I completely and absolutely support this. Trying to find food that met my nutritional needs and promoted my overall well being and mental health was difficult enough that I ended up moving into a Friedman my senior year simply so I would be able to control my diet and mitigate my medical symptoms. Students on campus need the freedom and ability to care for themselves, especially on such a basic level as adequate nutrition. This is, simply put, a fundamentally medical and psychological necessity.
